Ok, I said that I'd update and give everyone the low down about what happened, so here goes.

Work has been crazily busy the last 3-4 weeks, it's been non-stop everyday, so much that a couple of times I looked down at my watch and it was 3pm and I had not ate yet. It's not been stressful, but busy and the stuff keeps piling up. The pilling up is what worries me since I'm out of there for a couple months in a couple weeks...I don't want to leave any loose ends because the better that I leave things now, the better it is when I come back.

Ok, so that is the work that that happened Wednesday. The real zinger if Wednesday is one of my groomsmen e-mailed me to tell me that he wouldn't be able to make it to the wedding. Damn, that just sucks...he has drill and can't get out of it, I offered my assistance (and rank) to help him get out of it but I am not going to force him to let me help him. We'll make do no matter what. I ended up talking to him in the evening, it all comes down to the fact that I'm not going to push or make him feel bad about what has transcended, we'll just drive on.

Then there is the whole RSVP situation...some of the people that I was hoping would attend are not going to be...it's just a real bummer because most of these people are the non-family members that have had the most influence on my development. This compounded with the torn extended family that no longer has anything to do with my immediate family is just starting to make me sad. When we put the guest list together I went pretty conservative on who I invited, basically I only invited the core group of people that meant a lot to me, instead of just shotgunning it and inviting everyone...so I won't be having as many people as I would like there, but there isn't really anything that we can do about it then. On the bright side, there are some people that are coming that I've not seen in a long time, so it will be good to see them, and truth be known, I'd rather have 50 people there and be able to let them know how much I appreciate them being there than having 200 and only being able to say hello to half of them.

Then there is the whole honeymoon thing looming on us. I'm not going to get into details, but I just hope that it works out, because we are really taking chances with it. I know that we'll have a honeymoon come hell or high water, but those two weeks together means an extra special amount to us.

Next there is my parental situation....we'll leave it at that, but things will most likely end up ok.

Then, there is what the preacher threw out in my meeting with him tonight. He would like to see Amanda and I live separately from now until the wedding. I'd like to be able to honor that request, but if it is going to add any additional stress in this already stressful time to Amanda then I'm not worrying about it. Amanda is already under enough stress, I don't want to add anymore.

Ultimately, come around 5pm on March 18th Amanda and I are going to be married...so that is in stone...whatever happens between now and then, it is not going to stop our day.

Ok, I'm beat but I'll cover some of the good things the last 2 days...

- I had a good run yesterday.
- George the houseguest has been pretty good.
- Amanda and I had a nice meal at Arni's today.

Ok, I'm tired.

Complaint spurs cries of censorship | IndyStar.com

Superintendent Michael Copper has recommended that all material used in classrooms be reviewed by a committee of teachers, administrators and parents. The proposal is still in draft form, and the School Board has taken no action.

You cannot censor what our kids read in school and expect them to grow into young brilliant minds. If we control what they read we are nothing more than the communist spouting their rhetoric in the 1930's in Russia.

Ok, on to other things...

Yesterday after work I met Amanda at Prestons Rocks to pick up her wedding bands and her newly replated engagement ring (with the prongs fixed). It looks great! Only thing is that there is so much diamonds on each side of the engagement ring now the 1 carat center stone is pretty much hidden. I should post a picture.

After that we went to Cheeseburger in Paradise and ate. It was yummy, and my beer had a super-iced mug so I was happy.

After dinner we headed out, Amanda was going to E's house in Noblesville, I had to go to Best Buy in Noblesville. Amanda didn't want to pick up what I needed, so I had to go :( I grabbed what I needed and headed home. I stopped by Target to get batteries for George's virtual walls, but ended up buy a pen for Amanda (pink), batteries, 2 new pens for me, new socks, and RENT for Amanda. Just think...she didn't even want to pick up what I needed from Best Buy ;)

I got home and let the dog out and then put George to work. I programmed his start times and got the virtual walls set up. It's fun to drive him around...after playing for a while I docked him and let him charge up. When Amanda got home we let him work.

Unfortunately he was a little disoriented and slipped at the edge of the stairs. I about started crying, but his little 'uh-oh' beep three quarters of the way down the stairs made me laugh. I put him back together and everything was fine! Whew! He isn't supposed to go over the edge of stairs, but I think that he just got hung up and caught between a poster board that Amanda brought home and the edge of the stairs.

He then vacuumed the rest of out house. The floors look really good, you can tell that they are clean(er). He is set to clean every day this week at 3:30pm or so, we'll keep him cleaning every day until the floors are clean and then we'll move to a different routine.

Oh, and yes they work!

That's about it...

Look at this, two updates in a row! Not sure what direction this is going to take, but it probably won't be anything too great. It's early Saturday morning on a nice sunny late winter day. It's not too chilly out and I'm thinking about going for a run! I think that it will fill good to go running, come back and shower and then either cook breakfast or wake Amanda up and go get some. I'm craving coffee right now, but I've really cut back for some reason. No particular reason, but I'm down to a couple of cups a week now. I think that it probably has a direct relationship to how busy I've been at work.

Yesterday I came home from work and then went to a meeting until about 9 or so. I came home and we went to Pizza Hut. It had been a long time since we went to a pizza place to eat, so it was a nice change. The pizza was pretty good, but both of us filled up on salad before the pizza so we each only ate a piece or two.

When we came home I fell asleep early for the 6th or 7th day in a row. I've been really exhausted lately, and hopefully it ends soon. I hate sleeping too long and too early. I think that I've been fighting a cold or something the last week. I would almost rather just be sick for a day or two and then get better rather than fighting it for over a week.

So, I guess that I'll hit the highlights of the last two weeks.

February 14th was Valentine's Day. We didn't go out anyplace to eat since we had our Valentine's Day combined with our 1-year engagement anniversary earlier in the month. I did though pick up some portebella stuffed steaks and a cobb salad for us. We had that and some wine at home. I got Amanda a memory foam pillow which had memory foam on one side and a fiber fill on the other. That way you can flip it to what you want. It's pretty slick. I also got her a pair of Dulce and Gibana (sp?) sunglasses. I think that they really surprised by the sunglasses, and she seems to like them.

The 15th was Amanda's birthday (yeah luck me). We met with our reception site to fine tune the details and the menu. After that we came home and got around for dinner at Peterson's. We got there and I was going to give her present to her inside, but it didn't fit in my pocket too well so I gave it to her in the parking lot. It is this white gold stranded bracelet with a big heart in the center. A week or two before we were looking at jewelry and she mentioned that she liked it, so she kind of helped me pick it out. I don't think she thought she'd get it, but she did. She's worn it a lot since then so I think that it was good.

Dinner was great (as usual). They were a little slow seating us so they gave us a free appetizer, free drinks, and free dessert. With those items removed our bill still topped $130, so with the extras on there we probably would have broke $180 or so. Whew! It's a shit ton of money, but the food is soooooo good! The 16oz NY Strip that I ordered was perfect! I would almost eat PB&J every day for a week just to eat at this place on the 7th day.

On the 17th I had a LAN party at my National Guard unit. It was a fun time especially since a couple of my buddies were down for it from out of town, as was a couple of buddies that live in town here. I stayed up all night, drank a ton of red bull and managed to be fairly functioning the next day with only 3 hours of sleep!

The night of the 18th Wes was still here so we went with Amanda and her sister to a comedy show. It was fun...

That is about it highlight wise...this week was all work and meetings. These next couple weeks are going to be quite busy.

Ok, time to get on with the day!

Bringing you up to date....
Ok, you have my apologizes for my slackage, but it's not the end of the world. So hopefully this update will get you all updated.

Friday:
Let's see...Friday I worked. That isn't really all that exciting since I work every day. For the life of me I'm at a loss about what we did. I know that I couldn't stay out too late whatever I did since I had to get my uniform ready for the weekend. What did I do? I hate not remembering something, especially since I can remember damn near anything else. Amanda did something, and when she got home I got out of bed and she gave me a haircut since my hair was getting a bit long.

Saturday:
I got up nice and early after only like 3 1/2 hours of sleep to get ready for drill. There was some nasty weather so driving to the armory was interesting. I waned coffee bad, but time didn't allow it. Of course I had to stop and put air in my tire that was leaking. Drill was drill, nothing too exciting.

After drill I came home and changed into normal person dress clothes and headed downtown for a wedding. Amanda and I were headed to a wedding of someone that neither of use knew. The wedding/reception was at the Omni, and it was pretty nice. I guess that the Omni has a minimum fee of $40,000 to have a wedding there and this girl need fillers to get her bill high enough. Wow, kind of unbelievable. We didn't stay out too late since I had to get up early again. I think that we called it a night about 11:40 or so.

Sunday:
Got up and headed to drill. Came home and got ready for the Superbowl. I was having a couple of guys over and was making chili. On the way home I stopped and picked up ingredients and cooked it up during the first half. We ate it at half time.

Amanda had a good day since it was one of her wedding showers. Lots of really nice gifts, it just all amazes me. I think that we are going to hold off on opening up and using our shower and wedding gifts until we get a house. That way we get all this new stuff when we get our first home and then we can retire most of our old stuff.

Monday:
Worked.

Tuesday:
Worked.

Caden (our little dog) went to the vet and got neutered. It wasn't cheap...but at least it is done. He seems to be doing ok now and thank God he is not licking at the incision. I would hate if he had to wear one of those big foil anti-lick collars.

I feels so sorry for the little guy, it would have to be one hell of a note to wake up and have your balls cut off. Besides losing his man hood (err dog hood) he also had baby teeth removed, ear hair trimmed, eye hair trimmed, tear ducts flushed and probably some other stuff. Today he is acting pretty normal and we are probably having little issue with him being full of energy and wanting to run around like crazy all the time.

Wednesday:
Worked

After work I came home and wasted some time. In the evening we headed to dinner. We ate at this Italian cafe around 146th and Allisonville. Then we went to see a demo by a possible harpist for the wedding. I think that we are going to go with her, so that is one more thing done.

After the visit with the harpist we stopped by Wal-Mart to pick up some assorted stuff like Slim-Fast and cat food. We then headed home and here I am now. I'm really beat, I'm still trying to recover from drill. So, now...I'm off to bed.

Thursday, February 02, 2006

Good morning, just wanted to start an update, I'm not sure how much of this is going to get done, but I'll try to sneak in here while I working. I'm running these huge year end reports and they are taking a long time to pull. This came up on short notice and I'm trying to get this out but it's going to be pretty close.

I've not been a good updated so I'll give you some highlights of the last couple days.

Tuesday:
I worked like I do every single day. I really need a break! Thank God that I'm getting married soon so that I can go on the darn honeymoon. I've been working way too long without a vacation or any type of break greater than 3 days. After work Amanda and I went to Susan's basketball game.

Talk about a terrible game. Susan's team played horrible and it just so happened that the team that they played played their best game of the year. The refs called a pretty good game so I didn't even get to yell much and that makes me mad! Going to a game is cheaper than a shrink and I love to work off any stress or tension by yelling at the ref. I don't usually yell at the opposing players because I know that they are young and are going to make mistakes but the refs get it if they miss something or make a bad call.

Before the game Amanda and I ate at The Beef House. We have never ate there by ourselves and usually eat there with Amanda's dad. We tried calling/messaging her parents but neither of them got back with us in time to for them to go. It didn't matter, Amanda and I went by ourselves and had a good meal. The food there is really good and they have a great salad bar. I really like the place, too bad it is like an hour and a half away. If it was a little closer it would be great.

Wednesday:
Another work day.

In the evening nothing exciting happened. Amanda went to bed fairly early since she wanted to get up early and work on a presentation. I did eat Chipotle though, so there went the diet. Thankfully it was very very very good and I didn't care too much. If it would have been an off night I bet that I'd be a little more upset.

I'm also a terrible dog owner.

I'm also a terrible fish owner. You see, the fish tank has been bugging me. It's been so hard to keep clean lately and it's been bugging me. The water has hardly been flowing out of the filter so I change the filter yet water still barely flows. I thought that maybe the filter pump was going bad or something. The water has also been getting really cloudy and the algae is starting to build up. Last night I had enough and tore apart the filter assembly. It turns out that there was a huge clog in the little pipe thingy that goes into the water. Also, the pump impellar was pretty clogged. I cleaned all that up and turned the filter on and it worked like new. I then vacuumed out half the water, scrubbed the sides and then put new water in. Within an hour the water was looking good again.

That's going to be it for now...I haven't been able to type anything in the last hour or so...

Hopefully everyone had a great weekend. Mine wasn't too bad. I'll give you the brief overview.

Saturday:
Didn't do much, it was just one of those lazy days. I ate lunch with some friends and went to Fry's. I didn't buy anything though. I've been doing pretty good about not buying a lot of extra stuff. So good in fact that I still have $150 in Best Buy gift cards from December. That has to be a new record or something for me. I did end up going to Fry's at about 8:30pm though...my computer has been having problems. It failed a couple of benchmarks miserably, when it should have done a lot better. I started digging around and tried to eliminate everything and eventually I decided that it had to be a failing HSF (Heat Sink Fan) for my CPU. I went to buy a new one, unfortunately my processor is "old" (Oct 04) and they don't make a lot of HSF's for it. They luckily had one model left and it was pretty cheap. I came home and put it on. It is an ultra-quiet model so it definitely makes Amanda happy. She always complained about how loud my old one is, and truthfully she was right. My computer is darn near silent now. Not only is it quieter, but it is also running a lot cooler. The one bad thing that I noticed when I swapped off the HSF was that I believe my CPU overheated and that it has probably suffered some damage which is why it was failing some of the tests. Uggghhh, I guess that I will have to live with it since it's not cost effective to buy my CPU anymore since they are more expensive than they are worth since they are no longer made. I think that I'll just keep my eye open on a good deal that pops up and jump on it. After I went to Fry's I went on a Bible hunt at some of the bookstores but came up empty handed.

Nothing else really Saturday.

Sunday was pretty uneventful. In the evening we had a going away party for one of the pharmacists that Amanda works with. The little shindig was at Bonefish Grill. I was excited since I have wanted to eat there but Amanda never wanted to. Dinner was great! They had a great drink selection and good prices for those. I had a lemon drop and it was strong! Thankfully it was Kettle One vodka so it was smooth, but man! I had the waitress bring me a couple lemon wedges and that helped the drink.

It was so funny, the waitress came up and was like "Would you like to have an appetizer? Bang Bang Shrimp, Calamari, Crab Cakes, or Coconut Crusted Shrimp?" Tony, the guy that was leaving goes "Yeah, sounds good". Waitress replies "Which one?". Tony answers "All of them.". It was great!

The appetizers were good, the salad good, and my Ahi Tuna cooked rare was awesome! The only bad part was that Amanda and I were feeling festive so we decided to split a Key Lime Pie. About half the way through the pie Amanda said "Is there nuts in that?". She then went into nearly full fledged anaphylaxis shock. We paid the bill and jetted to a drug store as fast as we could. I flew to the CVS and ran inside with Amanda in tow to get some Benadryl. Amanda drank it in the store and then we headed to the ER just in case. We sat in the ER parking long for about 15 minutes to make sure that the Benedryl was working. I wanted to go into the ER so she could get a shot of Epinephrine, but she didn't want to.

She promises me that she'll get one with in the next two weeks.

That was way too scary for my liking...

Today work sucked...major problems with one of our databases. Hopefully it's fixed tomorrow.

Ok, time to do some reading.

Saturday, January 28, 2006

How is everyone doing? It's late, I'm bored, and not too tired so I figured that I'd come on here and ramble on for a little bit. Everything is going pretty good, nothing exciting, but not too bad.

Work the last two days has been quite busy, so that has been a little change. Today was nice because it went by really fast and Amanda brought me lunch. Well, a second lunch. I had just finished eating (err drinking) my lunch when Amanda called. She was done with her rotation early and wanted to bring me lunch. I was still hungry and figured it couldn't hurt. I had her bring me a 6" (as opposed to the 12" that I always eat) along with some baked chips. I figured that it wouldn't kill me and it was ok since I wasn't going to be able to eat my snacks. So, around 1:30pm or so Amanda got there and we had lunch in my office. It was quite nice.

After work I headed home. Amanda was taking a nap and I played some games. I eventually got hungry so I cooked us up some dinner. I'm doing pretty good about eating in, and it has been nice not having to have one of us plunk down $30-40 for dinner 7 nights a week. I've always said that I don't mind cooking as long as there is something to cook...it is just way too much work to think about what you want, go to the store, THEN come back and cook dinner. I am out of chicken.

I'll probably be eating out for lunch tomorrow since Amanda is having lunch with some friends. I figured that I'd call a buddy and go get some grub. Not sure where I'll want to go. I like to take advantage of eating w/out Amanda by eating at places that she doesn't like...so it is usually Papa Johns, sushi, Applebee's, or BW3's, but we'll see. Ok, enough thinking about food.

I have no big plans for this weekend....just one of those lazy weekends. There isn't a lot of these left the next month and a half or so. This past week went by really too damn fast, and the wedding is coming up really quickly. I'm ready to get that done, I'm sure that Amanda is feeling the same way! I really wouldn't mind going shooting this weekend, I've not shot anything in a while.

Next weekend is a wedding shower for Amanda, I'm sure that she is getting excited, but she isn't letting on yet. I have a drill, so I'll be busy doing that.

I think that tomorrow morning (errr, maybe not, it's in a couple hours) I want to watch some of the recorded stuff on the DVR. I have a LOST episode, and that needs watched ASAP. There are some other things on there too...so it will be nice to watch a lot and get caught up. I wouldn't mind going to the theatre also, it has been a long time since we went. I think that this might be one of the longest periods that we went without seeing a movie. I can't even think of the last thing we saw, but it was probably about a month or so ago. Must not have been too memorable if I can't remember what it was. Was it "Fun with Dick and Jane"? I think that was it. Maybe the fact that it was so bad has actually permanently affected my desire to see movies in the theatre. Probably not, but they should start giving partial refunds for terrible movies, especially when it is something in the ball park of $9 a ticket now.

Ok, I've left this open in case I thought of anything interesting to talk about....unfortunately I haven't so I'm going to try to go to bed now!
