Hopefully everyone had a great weekend. Mine wasn't too bad. I'll give you the brief overview.

Saturday:
Didn't do much, it was just one of those lazy days. I ate lunch with some friends and went to Fry's. I didn't buy anything though. I've been doing pretty good about not buying a lot of extra stuff. So good in fact that I still have $150 in Best Buy gift cards from December. That has to be a new record or something for me. I did end up going to Fry's at about 8:30pm though...my computer has been having problems. It failed a couple of benchmarks miserably, when it should have done a lot better. I started digging around and tried to eliminate everything and eventually I decided that it had to be a failing HSF (Heat Sink Fan) for my CPU. I went to buy a new one, unfortunately my processor is "old" (Oct 04) and they don't make a lot of HSF's for it. They luckily had one model left and it was pretty cheap. I came home and put it on. It is an ultra-quiet model so it definitely makes Amanda happy. She always complained about how loud my old one is, and truthfully she was right. My computer is darn near silent now. Not only is it quieter, but it is also running a lot cooler. The one bad thing that I noticed when I swapped off the HSF was that I believe my CPU overheated and that it has probably suffered some damage which is why it was failing some of the tests. Uggghhh, I guess that I will have to live with it since it's not cost effective to buy my CPU anymore since they are more expensive than they are worth since they are no longer made. I think that I'll just keep my eye open on a good deal that pops up and jump on it. After I went to Fry's I went on a Bible hunt at some of the bookstores but came up empty handed.

Nothing else really Saturday.

Sunday was pretty uneventful. In the evening we had a going away party for one of the pharmacists that Amanda works with. The little shindig was at Bonefish Grill. I was excited since I have wanted to eat there but Amanda never wanted to. Dinner was great! They had a great drink selection and good prices for those. I had a lemon drop and it was strong! Thankfully it was Kettle One vodka so it was smooth, but man! I had the waitress bring me a couple lemon wedges and that helped the drink.

It was so funny, the waitress came up and was like "Would you like to have an appetizer? Bang Bang Shrimp, Calamari, Crab Cakes, or Coconut Crusted Shrimp?" Tony, the guy that was leaving goes "Yeah, sounds good". Waitress replies "Which one?". Tony answers "All of them.". It was great!

The appetizers were good, the salad good, and my Ahi Tuna cooked rare was awesome! The only bad part was that Amanda and I were feeling festive so we decided to split a Key Lime Pie. About half the way through the pie Amanda said "Is there nuts in that?". She then went into nearly full fledged anaphylaxis shock. We paid the bill and jetted to a drug store as fast as we could. I flew to the CVS and ran inside with Amanda in tow to get some Benadryl. Amanda drank it in the store and then we headed to the ER just in case. We sat in the ER parking long for about 15 minutes to make sure that the Benedryl was working. I wanted to go into the ER so she could get a shot of Epinephrine, but she didn't want to.

She promises me that she'll get one with in the next two weeks.

That was way too scary for my liking...

Today work sucked...major problems with one of our databases. Hopefully it's fixed tomorrow.

How is everyone doing? It's late, I'm bored, and not too tired so I figured that I'd come on here and ramble on for a little bit. Everything is going pretty good, nothing exciting, but not too bad.

Work the last two days has been quite busy, so that has been a little change. Today was nice because it went by really fast and Amanda brought me lunch. Well, a second lunch. I had just finished eating (err drinking) my lunch when Amanda called. She was done with her rotation early and wanted to bring me lunch. I was still hungry and figured it couldn't hurt. I had her bring me a 6" (as opposed to the 12" that I always eat) along with some baked chips. I figured that it wouldn't kill me and it was ok since I wasn't going to be able to eat my snacks. So, around 1:30pm or so Amanda got there and we had lunch in my office. It was quite nice.

After work I headed home. Amanda was taking a nap and I played some games. I eventually got hungry so I cooked us up some dinner. I'm doing pretty good about eating in, and it has been nice not having to have one of us plunk down $30-40 for dinner 7 nights a week. I've always said that I don't mind cooking as long as there is something to cook...it is just way too much work to think about what you want, go to the store, THEN come back and cook dinner. I am out of chicken.

I'll probably be eating out for lunch tomorrow since Amanda is having lunch with some friends. I figured that I'd call a buddy and go get some grub. Not sure where I'll want to go. I like to take advantage of eating w/out Amanda by eating at places that she doesn't like...so it is usually Papa Johns, sushi, Applebee's, or BW3's, but we'll see. Ok, enough thinking about food.

I have no big plans for this weekend....just one of those lazy weekends. There isn't a lot of these left the next month and a half or so. This past week went by really too damn fast, and the wedding is coming up really quickly. I'm ready to get that done, I'm sure that Amanda is feeling the same way! I really wouldn't mind going shooting this weekend, I've not shot anything in a while.

Next weekend is a wedding shower for Amanda, I'm sure that she is getting excited, but she isn't letting on yet. I have a drill, so I'll be busy doing that.

I think that tomorrow morning (errr, maybe not, it's in a couple hours) I want to watch some of the recorded stuff on the DVR. I have a LOST episode, and that needs watched ASAP. There are some other things on there too...so it will be nice to watch a lot and get caught up. I wouldn't mind going to the theatre also, it has been a long time since we went. I think that this might be one of the longest periods that we went without seeing a movie. I can't even think of the last thing we saw, but it was probably about a month or so ago. Must not have been too memorable if I can't remember what it was. Was it "Fun with Dick and Jane"? I think that was it. Maybe the fact that it was so bad has actually permanently affected my desire to see movies in the theatre. Probably not, but they should start giving partial refunds for terrible movies, especially when it is something in the ball park of $9 a ticket now.

Ok, I've left this open in case I thought of anything interesting to talk about....unfortunately I haven't so I'm going to try to go to bed now!

Wow, twenty years since that January morning. I was six years old and in Kindergarten. We had half day kindergarten and I was in the family room with my mom as she was folding clothes. On the TV was the space shuttle launch. I remember watching the TV and seeing what happened, but it didn't register with me. It was only after seeing my mom upset as well as the news commentators that I realized that something bad had happened.

This would probably be the first news memory that I have. I remember a lot of things before this time, but this is the first thing that did not involve me personally. Granted, I'd spend the rest of my life loving the news...I was probably one of the 3rd graders that had a subscription to TIME. Yes, I read TIME when I little kid.

President Reagan, love him or hate him addressed the nation the night of the disaster and made what I consider one of the most eloquent speeches ever given by a president.

"The crew of the space shuttle Challenger honored us in the way in which they lived their lives. We'll never forget them nor the last time we saw them this morning as they prepared for their journey and waved goodbye and slipped the surly bounds of Earth and touched the face of God."

How is everyone today? I'm all right, but I didn't sleep too well. I kept having bad dreams about the wedding. Nothing horrible like the church exploding, but stuff like not many people showing up, seeing Amanda before the wedding, fights, and other needless drama. It wasn't very fun, but it's better than other bad dreams.

There just hasn't been much going on, so I haven't had a lot to talk about. I am pretty close to starting my commentary on news articles again, but we'll see. This past weekend WS came down from up north and we hung out. We had a pretty good time, and boy are we getting older. We have a couple beers, do an Irish car bomb and by midnight we are ready for bed. What the hell? We used to stay up until 4 or 5 in the morning. I guess getting old is just one of those certainties in life.

So far, so good with the diet. I think that I'm down about 9 lbs or so. I am find sticking to it during the week, but the weekends are tough. Saturday wasn't a very good day, but that's ok. If I only cheat once a week it's not the end of the world. The green tea that I'm drinking seems to help take the edge off the hunger. I did some research, and it looks like green tea itself helps to you lose weight, so that's pretty good.

I think that I need to order some more office supplies for my desk...I need to get a paper clip holder. I keep a handful in one of my desk drawers, but that's really not too handy. I'm getting sick of staples too. I am beginning to think that staples are over rater. Where I work everyone loves those big black clip thingies. Yeah, they are nice, but I think that we probably go through more of those than anyone else!

Hopefully my W2 is given to me today, that way I can do my taxes. Hopefully the return is decent, if not I'm going to scream! I'll probably do mine online again this year, it's just so much more convenient. I don't think that I've mailed a return in since like '98 or something. This will also be the last time that I'll be filing a tax return as a single...next year it will be a joint return.

Anyone out there have satellite radio? I got XM the month that it came out (Oct 01) and I have Sirius right now. I like Sirius better, but I question what the hell they are thinking with their one artist stations. Lets look at all of them:

10: E-Street Radio- All Bruce Springsteen all the time. What do they think he is Elvis?
13: Elvis Radio- All Elvis all the time. He's Elvis, so they don't think anything.
31: Radio Margaritiaville- Mostly Jimmy Buffet, but they play other stuff.
98: Rollingstones Radio- Rollingstones 24x7
45: Shady 45- Emenims channel, they play what he wants, although he is never there.
Thats just music, you also have like two Martha Stewart channels and two channels for Howard Stern.

Speaking of Howard, he is the shit. I never listened to his radio show since I was never in a market of his, I'd only seen his TV show. Needless to say, the guy is one of the most bad ass radio personalities ever. I just wish that they played the program over the Internet (via sirius.com) so that I could listen to it. I listen to regular Sirius radio like this pretty regularly, and adding Howard would be nice. I think they will eventually, but they need to build up their bandwidth before they have 3 million people tuning in and listening at work.

Ok, time for a quick update. This morning I had this huge post in my head but I forgot what the hell I was going to talk about. Oh well, so now I'll just make this up as I go.

I had my dentist appointment yesterday...I was so happy with the dentist that I decided on. It is a new office with a young dentist and a young staff. It's really high tech and a total change from the traditional dentist office that I'm used to. Some of the highlights. They show you a movie while they work on your teeth...note to self, no more comedies because I ended up laughing a couple times and the hygienist had to stop and laugh with me. They did digital x-rays so no developing film. There is a computer in the room so they are able to show you videos, your x-rays, schedule followup appointments and other things all the time while you are still in the chair. They have a little camera that takes close up images of your teeth so that you can see any problem areas.

I also have a couple cavities...my first ones since the 4th grade. My teeth don't hurt, and I truthfully I think that they've been there for a while and the other dentist that I had in Indy missed them. I knew there was a reason I got some bad mojo from them.

I also am getting free professional whitening treatments...we'll see how that goes. All in all I'm pretty excited. If anyone wants a new dentist let me know and I'll pass on the information to you on this office...I'm sure that you'll be happy.

In other news...driving 2+ hours to Susan's game tonight. I don't feel like going, but I always like watching her games. I'm feeling the same way as Amanda is, that these are the last games that she's going to be playing...so it's worth going for.

Katie is also going to start having games in the next couple weeks, so I'll be driving up north to those as well. I wish that both of them were closer, but what else can we do?

The diet is going ok...I bought some groceries again last night so now I should be all set for the next couple days. My goal is 20lbs by the wedding...I can hit that. If I do I'll be extremely happy. Today I was ok. I'm drinking a cup of green tea midmorning and mid-afternoon with a light snack to help curb my appetite. I think it works pretty good. Last year this time I was in a weight loss race with a guy and won (that one was the first to 25 lbs). This year I'm in another one, this one is most weight by March 15th. We'll see how it goes. It's all about healthy snacks and working out. I'm a habitual snacker, so having a yogurt or a banana is really key for me. Not to mention that by having a shake for breakfast and lunch speeds up my metabolism since I normally don't eat breakfast. I'm also saving some money since I'm not eating out for lunch anymore. All in all, I'm sitting pretty good. Now I just need to win and claim my steak dinner!

I was hoping to post last night but I choose sleep. I don't even know what time that I went to sleep, but I intentionally fell asleep on the couch watching "The Office". Amanda went to her sisters game and it was nastyish out so I wanted to wake up when she got home and the couch was the perfect place. Took the dog and laid him next to me so I didn't have to worry about him and that was that.

Yesterday I caught Zoe (our big cat) where she doesn't belong. She has been in a funk since we got the dog....just generally rude (if a cat can be rude). I ran at her and grabber her and yelled at her for being where she shouldn't. She was pissed at me the rest of the night. This morning when I was getting ready for work she was sitting in the kitchen staring me down with this death glare. The cats are fed in the morning and she was pretty hungry. I wish that I would have taken a picture of it...because it looked like the wanted to attack me or something.

Last night I had a nice healthy meal. I made grilled chicken wraps and had a side of rice. They weren't too bad, nice and filling. I really liked the rice I ate though, it was pretty good. Sometimes rice just tastes good and this was one of those times. I guess that anything would taste good since I'm dieting now. Time to cut some weight.

We finally were able to see our engagement photos! I'll have to post a couple after Amanda gives me the login to the site. They look ok.

Today I have a dentist appointment. Nothing special, just a cleaning. It's a new dentist since I didn't like the last one that I went to here. It was a real pain in the ass to find a dentist. I have two dental insurances and I wanted to find a dentist that took both. Then after I found the one's that took both I had to eliminate people based on license info, practice location, etc. One place that I liked couldn't get me in for a cleaning for 2 months! What the hell, serious...if you business is that busy you sure as hell don't need to be taking any new patients. If I can't call my doctor and be seen that day, or call my dentist and be seen in a week then I'm going to go somewhere else.

The one thing that I'm not looking forward to is the wisdom teeth lecture. I have been putting my wisdom teeth removal off for years. Well, 9 years to be exact. It's about time to do them since the procedure should only cost me about $40 out of pocket now with the dual insurance. I just need to find an oral surgeon that can hit me up with either some anti-anxiety drugs or knock me out with ether/chloroform/whatever. I have a terrible needle phobia and it is nearly impossible for being in the military, but I manage since I don't have a choice...but this would be voluntary! I just don't want an IV if it can be avoided.

Hey, how is everyone doing? Hopefully everyone had a great day...yeah I know that the Colts lost and the Bears lost but other than that today was ok. I'll try not to talk too much about the Colts but I do have to mention something. The Colts had not really played a game since Mid-December. That was way too long. I understand the rationale for sitting your starters in "games that don't matter" but those games do matter. They keep the team sharp and the offense clicking. Unfortunately it took the Colts 2+ quarters to finally wake up and shake out the cobwebs. If the game was 6 quarters long the Colts would have been up by 40 points. Ok, thats enough.

Ok, off that topic...I think that my little screenshot speaks for itself!

So here is the low down on today. We got up and went to church. Had lunch at Arni's. I watched the Colts lose. We went to pre-maritial counseling. Yeah, that was interesting. Unfortunately it wasn't a pre-maritial class, but rather post-maritial so oh well. If I'm going to do the pre-maritial counseling stuff I'd prefer to have have it directed about beginning a marriage rather than having it focused on making a marriage work. I guess that I can't have everything go my way.

I've been on a big tooth whitening kick lately. I've always hated my teeth. I had braces when I was younger and have always brushed and done all that fun stuff. I have pretty good oral hygeine but my enamel sucks or something because I always felt that my teeth looked like crap. It's always been a sore spot for me and whitening toothpaste and other stuff just didn't work. I picked up this Rembrandt whitening system at Target the other day and it's actually working! I'm pretty excitied. I'm not expecting miracles but it's making me feel a little better. So now I have a super-whitening routine. I use my sonicare toothbrush in the morning with my Crest advanced whitening toothpaste after I do a pre-brush rinse of listerine whitening, in the afternoon it's the rembrandt whitening system, in the evening it's the whitening system again, before bed I brush with Rembrandt whitening toothpaste and then put on nightime whitener. I figure something has to work in there. I should probably just save up and buy whitening through the dentist, but this will have to work until I can plunk down $500-1000 for the treatment.

Thats about it. I'm pretty tired and I am planning to go into work remotely early to make sure that there are not any hitches with the install that went down on Saturday.

Yes, it's Saturday and I'm at work. It's just about 3:30pm and I've been here for about an hour. I'm babysitting a software install on a couple of our servers, no big deal....at least it better not be. I'm hoping that thing will be wrapping up in the next 30minutes to an hour and then I can continue on with my weekend.

So far today has been a pretty good day...I really enjoy good Saturdays, they really make the whole weekend feel longer. I'm sure all of you have experienced sleeping in late on Saturday and on Sunday and whammo, you have wasted 10 of your 48 hours of weekend asleep.

Today, we started our day quite early for a Saturday. We had an appointment with another wedding florist. We decided that we would get another estimate since the last one totally blew our budget. This one was a little strange and had a weird velvet outfit with huge sleeves, it looked like she was wearing a curtain, but what the hell it was 8:20 on a Saturday morning so who cares.

We were able to get exactly what we wanted for the bridal party and all the other people that need flowers (like every damn person that I know it feels like!). We also got more for the wedding ceremony and some totally killer center pieces...all for about a almost a grand less than the other lady. I know a couple of my subscribers are getting married soon, if you want info on this lady, our cake lady, and other stuff shoot me an e-mail and we'll give you the info. We left the flower lady really happy with what we got. Well, at least I did. Amanda was in a pissy mood for some reason, probably because she had to get up early. You would have thought that she was going to be happy since I went to Susans game and the florist....even though I kind of wasn't planning to go to either one!

After the florist we stopped at Le Peeps to get some grub. I haven't ate there since June or July and it was good to go back. It was funny because the waiter remembered me AND what I wanted to eat. Amanda got a kick out of that. I guess that is what happens when you and a couple guys eat at the same restaurant 3-4 times a week for a year. I really enjoyed that last year...it was a blast, and I miss hanging out with my ROTC brothers.

After breakfast we went home. Amanda took a nap and I screwed around on the computer (slang for played computer games). Amanda woke up from her nap (was in a good mood after getting some more sleep) and we did a quick fix on the house before her dad came over. Right about the time that he got there I headed out the door to go to Fry's. I had to pick up some stuff for her mom's computer.

I went to Fry's and picked up all the stuff that she would need to transfer and burn her video to DVD's. I then came to work as everyone was leaving. I just wrapped up installing all the crap into Amanda's mom's computer....and now I'm just waiting for the install to finish. Should be done soon, or so I hope!

Tomorrow there is the Colts game and that's about it.

Well, I'm going to wrap this up and send an e-mail out to my Groomsmen about tuxes.

Well, I started to type a post last night but fell asleep one paragraph into it. for a couple hundred lines since I was asleep. Yeah, definitely not the most interesting post in the world. Ok, I'm at work now and taking a half day! Yeah. So I'll be wrapping this up soon.

Yesterday I took Caden to the vet for his last shots, deworming, checkup and all that fun stuff. It was expensive, but wasn't as bad as I thought that it would be, $98. Next month he gets his balls cut off (errrr neutered). He'll also have his baby teeth removed and his tear ducts flushed. If his eyes would stop tearing I would be very happy. It bugs the heck out of me.

I ate dinner with a couple friends last night, that was fun.

Well, my little sick period is finally reaching it's end. That was a crappy cold, but it's almost over now...thankfully. I haven't had a cold in a while, so it sucked getting sick. Amanda has had a couple and this was my first one. I've been gradually feeling better every day. Today the congestion in my ears and my nose finally started to break, so now my hearing is almost normal.

I feel bad about being such a crappy updater, but now that I'm feeling normalish I can get back to my regular schedule. Amazingly, in this whole sick period I didn't miss any work, although I came close to calling in last week. I should have...I'm pretty bad at working when I shouldn't / don't have to.

I'm not going to even try to attempt one of those all inclusive updates where I try to cover something from every day that I didn't update...that would be too much so I'm just going to hit some points to get my xangaing back on track.

I now have health insurance. I'm pretty excited. I lost my health insurance probably in 2000 or 1999 when I reached too old or something on my parents insurance. I had insurance for a month in 2002 and have been insurance less since. I have basically been living my free-time around my lack of insurance. I was afraid to play any sports (basketball, roller blade, etc.) because of the chance of hurting myself somehow. Finally I can start to do some of that stuff now that I don't have to worry about going broke if I get hurt. Hell, I might even go inner-tubing up at the dunes this winter since I'm covered now.

We had our engagement pictures taken last Wednesday. That was fun. We never had them taken, so we took advantage of an unbelievable nice January day and had pictures taken at Butler's Holcomb Gardens. They should be here any day now and I'm super excited to see how they turned out. It was Amanda's and I's first ever time having a real photographer take our pictures so it was fun. Yeah, we've been together since '99 and that was the first real pictures! The photographer, who will also be shooting our wedding seemed pretty good, we'll see just how good when we get the engagement pictures back.

We meet with a florist yesterday to get an estimate for flowers for the wedding. We want to keep it fairly simple but things added up really fast and we ended up at over $1600. She seemed nice, and her prices were reasonable, but we are going to go to another person to get an estimate. It can't hurt, and if we can manage to save $700 or so on flowers it would make me happy!

I've been so tired lately. In fact I've been going to bed earlier than I ever have. It was like every night I was dead by 10pm, tonight is the first time in a long time that I've been able to stay up. I'm pretty tired now, but I'll be going to bed soon so it's no biggie.

I could really use a day off. Whenver there is a drill weekend the work weeks run together and I go 12 days without a break, so I'm definitely ready for a break now. I can't wait to sleep in Saturday. Hopefully I'll be able to and not wake up at like 8am. I've done that the last couple sleep in days and it's sucked!

Well, it's almost midnight and I'm ready for bed. 'Night.

Streaming video coming to a car near you

XM radio is teaming up with On2 Technologies to begin offering mobile video in your car. I wonder how good the quality will be since the compression of satellite radio takes a hit on the audio quality...the video quality has to take a similar hit.

As you can see there it says that it will ship with in 1-2 business days. I've been checking the status of my order daily and frankly I reached a breaking point today to see what was going on.

I called customer service at 813-988-6717 to inquire about my order.

The lady that I talked to said that they were waiting for 2 of the items to come in. She said that the supplier was closed for the holiday and not able to ship to the. She stated that prior to confirming my order there was a note saying that there would be a delay in shipping. That was not the case. The e-mail that I received as an order confirmation stated 1-2 days for shipping.

I checked their website today to see if I could find the note, and it is not there, even though the items have not yet arrived. Nice lie shady company! Here is a screen shot of the cart, at the top where it says "Your order will ship within 1 business day" is the location that it *supposedly* stated that there would be a delay. I call bull shit on that, it doesn't show it now and sure as hell did not show it when I placed my order.



I really wanted these wind chimes for my grandparents, so I wasn't going to cancel my order. I only asked that they refund shipping. They said that they couldn't refund shipping only cancel my order. Guess what...I canceled my order. Sorry Grandma and Grandpa this shitty company cost you the windchimes. I'm going to post this to digg, hopefully it generates some response from the community.

Prior to placing this order I was wary of the company since I had never heard of them. I did some research into them and they seemed legit...I guess that is not the case now. Let's see if they actually issue me the refund.

The biggest discoveries of 2005

Apparently the biggest discoveries include lots of neat stuff like fluffy comets, a new animal, and that the tsunami of last year was caused by global warming. Call me crazy but wasn't the tsunami caused by an earthquake?
