Well, my little sick period is finally reaching it's end. That was a crappy cold, but it's almost over now...thankfully. I haven't had a cold in a while, so it sucked getting sick. Amanda has had a couple and this was my first one. I've been gradually feeling better every day. Today the congestion in my ears and my nose finally started to break, so now my hearing is almost normal.
I feel bad about being such a crappy updater, but now that I'm feeling normalish I can get back to my regular schedule. Amazingly, in this whole sick period I didn't miss any work, although I came close to calling in last week. I should have...I'm pretty bad at working when I shouldn't / don't have to.
I'm not going to even try to attempt one of those all inclusive updates where I try to cover something from every day that I didn't update...that would be too much so I'm just going to hit some points to get my xangaing back on track.
I now have health insurance. I'm pretty excited. I lost my health insurance probably in 2000 or 1999 when I reached too old or something on my parents insurance. I had insurance for a month in 2002 and have been insurance less since. I have basically been living my free-time around my lack of insurance. I was afraid to play any sports (basketball, roller blade, etc.) because of the chance of hurting myself somehow. Finally I can start to do some of that stuff now that I don't have to worry about going broke if I get hurt. Hell, I might even go inner-tubing up at the dunes this winter since I'm covered now.
We had our engagement pictures taken last Wednesday. That was fun. We never had them taken, so we took advantage of an unbelievable nice January day and had pictures taken at Butler's Holcomb Gardens. They should be here any day now and I'm super excited to see how they turned out. It was Amanda's and I's first ever time having a real photographer take our pictures so it was fun. Yeah, we've been together since '99 and that was the first real pictures! The photographer, who will also be shooting our wedding seemed pretty good, we'll see just how good when we get the engagement pictures back.
We meet with a florist yesterday to get an estimate for flowers for the wedding. We want to keep it fairly simple but things added up really fast and we ended up at over $1600. She seemed nice, and her prices were reasonable, but we are going to go to another person to get an estimate. It can't hurt, and if we can manage to save $700 or so on flowers it would make me happy!
I've been so tired lately. In fact I've been going to bed earlier than I ever have. It was like every night I was dead by 10pm, tonight is the first time in a long time that I've been able to stay up. I'm pretty tired now, but I'll be going to bed soon so it's no biggie.
I could really use a day off. Whenver there is a drill weekend the work weeks run together and I go 12 days without a break, so I'm definitely ready for a break now. I can't wait to sleep in Saturday. Hopefully I'll be able to and not wake up at like 8am. I've done that the last couple sleep in days and it's sucked!
Well, it's almost midnight and I'm ready for bed. 'Night.
